October 19th Everlasting Ghettoblaster »

THE TELEPHONE COMPANY! They came, they played, they made me laugh. The Telephone Company came to the studio today and played some songs off of their new album for us, and answered a few questions. Here’s what we heard:

  1. The King’s Surprise (from the CD “The King’s Surprise”)
  2. Moustache (live)
  3. Identical Twin Brothers (live)
  4. Little Mermaid Time (live)
  5. Kangaroo (from the CD “Panda Brain”)
  6. Panda Brain (live)
  7. Grandma (live)

I hope they’ll come back and play again soon, because it was a blast to have them in the studio, and the show just wasn’t long enough to get enough good songs in!

We ended the show with me announcing “Marshmallow Song” by Candy Band and then promptly playing the wrong track. That last song was actually “I like bananas” by The Boogers.

Milkshake Interview »

On monday Oct. 26th we’ll be playing an interview with Milkshake that we recorded at Austin Kiddie Limits just minutes after their Saturday show. They were VERY kind to help us get into the show, and they were even more kind to take teh time to talk to us and face the questions from kids. We’ll announce it again before it’s aired, but we’re just priming you for the excitement!

New music & an exciting band in the studio this monday! »

Today we checked our box and had a few new CDs in it, including “It’s eLeMeNO Time” by The eLeMeNOs! It’s a GREAT album, and you can hear a few of the songs here if you can’t wait until I play them on my show.

Also (and this is exciting) it’s looking like (very likely) we’re going to have (live) in the studio (this monday, the 19th) The Telephone Company! I posted a video of them playing their new song “Panda Brain” a couple of posts ago… feel free to watch that a few times to get really hyped up before the show. They’re going to play some songs for us (I hope) and answer some of those questions from children. If any of you kids have questions you’d like to ask them, please email me! I will try to get them in!

Doug Snyder in the house! Doug is from The Jellydots, which is an INCREDIBLE kids band that I love. Their newest album, Jelly Jukebox, is a digital-only album at this point so we’ll let you know when we know where to get it! Doug answered some very challenging questions from some children (and did quite well).

The Jellydots Myspace Page

We played a few non-Jellydots songs at the beginning of the show, so here’s our short playlist for you.

  1. “It makes you feel good” by Renee & Jeremy
  2. “Jelly Belly” by The Electric Company
  3. “Fee Fi Fo, Fee Fi Fum” by Robbert Bobbert & The Bubble Machine
  4. “Spiders Under My House” by The Jellydots
  5. “My Town” by The Jellydots
  6. “All Of Us” by The Jellydots
  7. “Someday Soon” by The Jellydots

Enjoy!

Also featured on Sunday: MUD. Loads of it.

The Telephone Company at ACL/AKL! »

The Telephone Company put on a great show, which we unfortunately missed the beginning of. Fortunately, we made it for our favorite new song, Panda Brain!

Thanks for being crazy, Telephone Company!

Playlist, and sad podcast news »

Ok, Ghettoblasting people, I owe you an apology. This podcasting thing has hit a little hiccup, namely that I set up my computer wrong during my show and didn’t get a recording of it at all. That means (sadly) no podcast this week. Only week two and I messed it up! Oh, well, I will work hard to make sure next week works out.

In the mean time, let me at least give you the playlist. That should help all of you that want to know what all that great music was!

  1. “I Want It” by Milkshake
  2. “It’s Your Birthday” by Mr. Leebot (Happy Birthday Xena!)
  3. “The Last Dragon” by Secret Agent 23 Skidoo
  4. “Caboose” by Lunch Money
  5. “You Did It!” by Milkshake
  6. “Luck” by Secret Agent 23 Skidoo
  7. “I Love My Library” by Lunch Money
  8. “Bomb Pop” by The Telephone Company
  9. “Salvador” by Duplex
  10. “Mes Parents Sont Bio” by Pascal Parisot
  11. “Fruit Belt” from Kid Koala

Thanks everyone, and tune in Monday!
